Rezi's free plan includes its AI resume writer and editor, one resume, one AI interview and 3 PDF downloads, per its pricing page. Three files is enough for a first resume and a couple of revisions. After that, Pro is $29 a month or $149 once for lifetime access, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Best for: one resume, written with heavy AI help, downloaded a few times.

Teal: free PDFs and a job tracker

Teal's Free Forever plan gives unlimited resumes, 10 templates, 10 AI bullet credits, 2 summary credits and 2 cover letter credits, and Teal says you can download PDFs without limits. Its job tracker is free too. Teal+ costs $13 every 7 days, $29 every 30 days or $79 every 90 days.

Best for: people tailoring several versions who can write most bullets themselves.

ResumeFast: build everything free, first file free

Building on ResumeFast is free: unlimited resumes and cover letters, every template, a photo, 10 AI credits and one ATS score check a month. Your first PDF or Word download is free, once per account, and plain-text downloads are always free. After that first file, PDF and Word need Pro at $6.95 a month, billed monthly with no trial. Pro also unlocks unlimited AI writing, ATS scans with auto-fix, resume tailoring and AI cover letters.

What it doesn't do as well: the template set is small and single-column on purpose, so it won't match Canva or Kickresume for visual variety, and the interface is English only.

Canva: free design, check the text

Canva's free plan includes resume templates and up to 20 AI uses, per Canva's pricing page. It's the most flexible design tool here. The risk is structure: text boxes in two columns can come out of an applicant tracking system in the wrong order. Paste your exported PDF's text into a plain document. Best for: resumes you'll hand to a person, portfolios and creative roles.

Kickresume and FlowCV: free PDFs without AI

Kickresume's free plan has 4 basic resume templates and 4 matching cover letters you can download as often as you like, but its AI Writer and ATS checker are Premium (pricing). FlowCV's free plan gives one resume with watermark-free PDFs and all templates (pricing). Both are good if you write well on your own.

What "AI" means in a resume builder

AI features come in three levels, and free plans usually give you the first, a few uses of the second, and rarely the third.

1. Pre-written phrases. Pick a job title and choose from a library of bullets. Fast, generic, and offered free by most builders.
2. AI-written content. A language model writes bullets or a summary from what you type. Rezi, Teal, ResumeFast and Canva include a limited amount free.

How to check any "free" builder in two minutes

1. Open the pricing page first. Look for the words "TXT only," "trial," or "auto-renews." If the PDF needs a trial, the trial's renewal price is the real price.
2. Find the download limit. "1 resume," "3 downloads," "one version" and "7 days" are all real limits. Know which one you're signing up for.
3. Look for branding. Novoresume's and Enhancv's pricing pages list "no branding" as a paid feature, which tells you the free files carry their name.
4. Test the PDF. Copy all the text out of the downloaded file and paste it into a plain document. Jumbled order means an ATS may jumble it too.

When free isn't enough

Free plans run out when you need many tailored versions, unlimited AI rewrites or a check against every job post.
