Sterile Processing Technician Resume Examples

A sterile processing technician resume should open with your certification, CRCST from the HSPA or CSPDT from the CBSPD, and its status, since full CRCST certification needs 400 hours of hands-on experience. Then show the whole cycle you work in, from decontamination and inspection to tray assembly, sterilization and case carts for the operating room, with the equipment, standards and tracking system you use.

Sterile Processing Technician resume questions

How do I write a sterile processing resume with no experience?

Lead with your CRCST or CSPDT, or your exam date, and your training course. Many new technicians hold provisional CRCST status while they complete the 400 hands-on hours, so say so. Then add jobs that show attention to detail and working by checklist, such as warehouse, kitchen, lab or manufacturing work, and mention PPE and infection control.

What is the 400-hour requirement for the CRCST?

The HSPA awards full CRCST certification after you pass the exam and complete 400 hours of hands-on sterile processing experience. If you pass before finishing the hours, you hold provisional status until they are done. Put either status on your resume, along with how many hours you have completed.

Do sterile processing technicians need a state certification?

A few states, including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, require central service technicians to be certified. Elsewhere, most hospitals still prefer or require the CRCST or CSPDT. List the credential at the top either way.
