Phlebotomist Resume Examples

A phlebotomist resume should open with your certification, such as CPT, PBT, RPT or NCPT, plus the state license or certificate if you work in California, Louisiana, Nevada or Washington, which require one. Then show your draw volume, the setting and the patients you draw from, such as pediatric, oncology or hard sticks, along with specimen processing and the lab system you use. New phlebotomists lead with their supervised draws; experienced ones lead with volume and accuracy.

Phlebotomist resume questions

How do I write a phlebotomy resume with no experience?

List your training program like a job: the clinical site, the hours and the number of successful venipunctures and skin punctures you completed under supervision. Put your certification at the top, then add any customer-facing job, because calming nervous patients is half the work. Mention two-identifier patient ID and order of draw by name.

Do phlebotomists need a license?

Four states, California, Louisiana, Nevada and Washington, require phlebotomists to hold a state license or certificate. Elsewhere, most employers ask for a national certification such as CPT from the NHA or PBT from the ASCP. List whichever you hold right under your name.

What numbers belong on a phlebotomist resume?

Draws per shift or day, the share of first-stick successes if your lab tracks it, specimens processed, and any drop in redraws or mislabeled specimens you contributed to. Even a plain volume, such as 'drew 35-45 outpatients a day', tells a lab manager you can keep up.
