Pharmacy Technician Resume Examples
A pharmacy technician resume should lead with your certification, CPhT from the PTCB or ExCPT from the NHA, and your state registration or license, then show the setting and volume: prescriptions filled per day in retail, or cart fills, automated dispensing and sterile compounding in a hospital. Name the pharmacy system you use and show accuracy, because accuracy is what a pharmacist looks for first.

Pharmacy Technician resume questions
How do I write a pharmacy technician resume with no experience?
Lead with your certification or exam date and your training program, including any externship hours in a retail or hospital pharmacy. Then show transferable skills from cashier, customer service or office jobs: accuracy, fast data entry, handling paperwork and staying calm with upset customers. Many retail pharmacies also hire trainees and support them through certification.
Do I need to be certified to work as a pharmacy technician?
It depends on the state and the employer. Many states require technicians to register with or be licensed by the state board of pharmacy, and some require national certification. Hospitals often ask for the CPhT even where the state does not. Check your state board of pharmacy, and list your registration and certification under your name.
What should a hospital pharmacy technician resume include?
Automated dispensing cabinets such as Pyxis or Omnicell, cart fills and first-dose delivery, medication histories if you have taken them, and sterile compounding with your USP 797 training. Hospitals screen for these terms, so use them in your skills and in your bullet points.
