Patient Care Technician Resume Examples
A patient care technician resume should show the skills that set a PCT apart from an aide, namely phlebotomy, EKGs and point-of-care testing, alongside the basics of patient care: vital signs, mobility and hygiene. Lead with certifications such as CPCT/A, CNA and BLS, name the unit and your patient load, and add one result, such as fall prevention or on-time morning labs.

Patient Care Technician resume questions
How do I write a patient care technician resume with no experience?
Lead with your PCT or CNA certification and the clinical hours from your program, listing the hospital, unit and skills such as vital signs, venipuncture and EKGs. Add any caregiving, CNA or customer service work, and BLS. Hospitals often hire new PCTs into float or night positions, so say you are flexible on shifts if you are.
What is the difference between a PCT and a CNA?
Both give hands-on care such as bathing, mobility and vital signs. A patient care technician usually adds technical skills, most often phlebotomy and EKGs, and works mainly in hospitals and dialysis centers. Many PCTs start as CNAs and add those skills through a PCT program or on-the-job training.
Do dialysis patient care technicians need a certification?
Yes. Federal rules for Medicare-certified dialysis facilities (42 CFR 494.140) require hemodialysis patient care technicians to be certified, through a program such as the CCHT or CHT, within 18 months of being hired. List the credential, or your expected exam date, near the top.
