Delivery Driver Resume Examples

A delivery driver resume should lead with your license and record: license class, any CDL or DOT medical card, and years without accidents or moving violations. Then show your route: stops or packages per day, on-time and completion rates, and the vehicles you drive, from cargo vans to box trucks. Name the scanner and route apps you use, and add one example of good service or safe handling.

Delivery Driver resume questions

How do I write a delivery driver resume with no experience?

Lead with your driver's license and a clean driving record, then show reliability and customer service from any job: app-based food delivery, retail, warehouse or moving work all count. Mention that you know the area, can lift the weight in the posting, and are comfortable with smartphone route and scanning apps.

Do delivery drivers need a CDL?

Only for larger vehicles. A commercial driver's license is required for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or that carry placarded hazardous materials or 16 or more passengers. Many van and box truck jobs need only a regular license, though drivers of commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds in interstate commerce also need a DOT medical card.

What should a delivery driver put in the skills section?

Safe driving, route planning, pre-trip inspections, loading and securing freight, handheld scanners and proof-of-delivery apps, and customer service. Add the vehicles you can drive and any certifications, such as a DOT medical card or forklift training.
