Cashier Resume Examples

A cashier resume should show speed, accuracy and calm with customers: how many customers you check out per shift, how often your drawer balances, and the POS you use. Add the extras managers value, such as ID checks for age-restricted sales, returns, coupons, loyalty sign-ups and training new cashiers. For a first job, show reliability and comfort with money from school, sports or volunteering.

Cashier resume questions

How do I write a cashier resume with no experience?

Lead with a two-sentence summary: you want a cashier job, and you are reliable, good with numbers and friendly. Then prove it with school, sports, volunteering or babysitting, such as handling money at a fundraiser or concession stand. Add your availability and any languages, and keep it to one page.

What skills should a cashier resume include?

Cash handling, POS systems, accuracy, speed, customer service, returns and exchanges, and ID checks for age-restricted sales. Name the POS you used if you know it, then prove your top two or three skills in your bullets with a number, such as customers per shift or drawers balanced.

How do I describe cash handling on a resume?

Give the scale and the accuracy: how much money or how many transactions you handled per shift, and how often your drawer balanced. 'Handled $4,000-6,000 a shift with no shortages in 18 months' is far stronger than 'responsible for cash handling.'
